Job summary

Toyota of Wallingford is seeking a Parts Counterperson to source and supply correct parts and accessories for Toyota vehicles, supporting technicians and retail customers in a fast-paced dealership environment.

This hourly, full-time role offers a base rate plus commission based on sales performance, with opportunities for growth and a strong emphasis on accuracy and customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive parts, dealership, or a similar parts counter setting.
• Knowledge of automobile parts, with a preference for Toyota parts.
• Sales experience with customer service and relationship building.

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians, service advisors, and retail customers in identifying and sourcing the correct parts and accessories, focusing on Toyota parts.
• Use electronic ordering and shipping systems to process parts orders, returns, special orders, and inter-store transfers accurately.
• Operate the dealership’s DMS (preferably Dealertrack) to look up parts, create invoices, update records, and track orders.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked parts counter and storage area with properly labeled items.
• Monitor inventory levels and help manage stock, including receiving shipments and reporting discrepancies.
• Support the Service Department by fulfilling internal parts requests to minimize repair cycle time.
• Provide professional, sales-focused customer service at the counter and over the phone, including upselling add-ons.
• Manage shipping and receiving activities, coordinating with carriers and updating order status.
• Follow dealership and manufacturer guidelines for parts returns, warranties, cores, and special orders.
• Collaborate with Parts Department leadership to achieve sales goals and leverage commission opportunities.
• Adhere to safety, cleanliness, and compliance standards within the Parts Department and dealership.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support Parts and Service Department operations.
