Job summary

American Senior Benefits is seeking a detail-oriented Commission Accountant to review, reconcile and process agent commissions. The role requires strong Excel skills, independent work style, and the ability to communicate with insurance companies to resolve payment issues.

You will generate and file commission reports, handle inquiries from agents, and help develop procedures for efficient operations in a fast-paced environment. Prior agency accounting experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree, in Mathematics, is required.
• Proficient computer skills and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with agency commission processing or accounting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review new policies from incoming commission statements and input into Agency Management System to generate outgoing commission advances and earnings to agents.
• Reconcile incoming commission payments to expected schedule and identify differences.
• Communicate with insurance companies to resolve commission issues, such as missing or incorrect payments and policy statuses.
• Generate reports from the Agency Management System related to commission payments.
• Handle commission statement scanning and filing.
• Manage incoming and outgoing agent calls and emails related to commission issues.
• Ensure excellent service is rendered to agents.
• Develop and operate procedures to ensure efficient commission accounting operations.
• Perform complex financial transactions accurately and balance account statements.
• Conduct weekly quality oversight activities for individuals and carriers.
• Collaborate as a team player to support agency goals and coworkers.
