Job summary

Lava Island is seeking a Commercial Carpenter to perform skilled carpentry on commercial projects. This role reads plans, completes layouts, installs building components, and works to project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

You may assist with other trades as needed, read drawings, measure, cut, assemble, and ensure work stays on schedule. The position requires travel to job sites and the ability to work in varied temperatures and conditions.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of commercial carpentry or construction experience.
• Experience across multiple trades preferred.
• Ability to read construction drawings and use measuring and layout tools.
• Knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and safety practices.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable attendance and ability to travel to assigned jobsites.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record if driving is required.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and lift up to 50 pounds; work indoors/outdoors in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, measurements, and layout information.
• Perform commercial carpentry work, including framing, blocking, doors, trim, cabinetry, finishes, and specialty installations.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other construction equipment.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials accurately.
• Inspect completed work and correct quality issues when identified.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company, jobsite, OSHA, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Coordinate work with the Lead Foreman, Superintendent, employees, and subcontractors.
• Complete assigned work accurately and within established project schedules.
• Perform other construction-related duties as assigned.

• While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; climb ladders and stairs; bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in confined or elevated areas; and regularly lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee may work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures, weather conditions, noise levels, and active construction environments.
