Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is launching a year-long underwriting trainee program starting October 12, 2026. Under close supervision, you will learn underwriting philosophy, business unit products and strategies, negotiation, and relationship building.

You will handle renewal business and progress toward new business and territory ownership as your skills grow. You will build relationships with customers, agents and brokers; develop consultative sales and pricing skills; and receive coaching

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or one year of applicable business experience.
• Demonstrates eagerness to learn underwriting concepts and risk assessment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, underwrites and assesses risk for less complex accounts.
• Establishes relationships with customers, agents and brokers.
• Develops consultative sales and pricing skills through training and coaching.
• Participates in enterprise-wide problem solving and collaboration.
• Takes initiative for personal development within underwriting, marketing and related opportunities.
