First American is seeking a Commercial Underwriting Counsel to join National Commercial Services in Atlanta, GA. Qualifications

• Law Degree required.
• Admitted to practice in state of employment.
• Licensed to practice law, in good standing.
• 5–7 years title underwriting experience, commercial experience preferred.
• Familiar with real estate law, including federal and state regulations.
• Strong analytical rigour and business acumen.
• Strong negotiation skills with tact and clarity.
• Ability to collaborate and build relationships internally and externally.
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with multi-tasking and follow-up.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting support and counsel for title insurance commitments and policies.
• Utilize underwriting standards within delegated authority to underwrite title insurance.
• Provide guidance to personnel in real estate settlement services.
• Issue underwriting standards and guidelines per company processes.
