Federated Insurance is seeking an Underwriter to establish the risk profile for client businesses and determine appropriate coverage and premiums. You will complete a comprehensive training program and then manage a territory with minimal supervision, collaborating with internal teams.

You’ll gain solid underwriting foundations through paid classrooms and hands-on instruction, beginning in Minnesota, with travel to develop client relationships and grow expertise in your market.

What Will You Do?

As an Underwriter, your work creates the foundation of our business. We could not protect businesses or provide peace of mind to clients without your expertise. You determine who our clients are and how we can better serve their needs. Your judgement helps us write and retain profitable business. Federated provides paid classroom and hands-on training designed to teach you the fundamentals of underwriting.

To set you up for success, you will complete Federated’s robust classroom and hands-on training, designed to teach the foundations of underwriting at Federated. After training you will be assigned a territory to underwrite for. With minimal supervision, you will have sole ownership over your territory and will partner closely with a multitude of internal departments to gather, analyze and evaluate the risk of new and existing customers.

The position begins on Monday, January 4th, 2027, and the two week training program starts January 11th, in Owatonna, MN.

Pay Range is $63,800 - $78,000. Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information can be discussed with a member of the Recruiting team.
