Job summary

WCF Insurance is seeking an Underwriter/Senior Underwriter to evaluate new and renewal accounts and manage a book of business in the Denver area. You will build agent relationships through calls and occasional visits, delivering thorough risk analyses and recommendations on coverage terms and premiums.

The role requires 3+ years in commercial underwriting, knowledge of NCCI rules, and comfort with loss-sensitive rating programs. A bachelor’s degree in finance or business is preferred.

Qualifications

An underwriter applies quantitative and qualitative analysis along with sound underwriting principals to evaluate new and renewal account risks. The incumbent manages a book of business for growth, profitability, and retention. The underwriter initiates and handles agent relationships through service calls and occasional in-person visits. The person in this position provides a thorough, documented risk analysis on new and renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium.

Qualifications

• At least three years commercial underwriting experience in all business lines
• Working knowledge of NCCI and state bureau manuals, rules and classifications.
• Experience with loss sensitive rating programs.
• CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications preferred.
• Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, excel experience required.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, verbal and written.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, business, or equivalent experience preferred.

We open to considering candidates for an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter depending on experience. Must have 5 years of related experience for the senior level.

Expected salary for the mid-level underwriting level position is $76,000 to $95,000. Salary is based on experience and education.

The expected salary range for this position is 88,000.00-109,900.00. This salary range depends on experience, education, and location for this specific position.
