Job summary

Gills Point S Tire & Auto in The Dalles, OR is seeking a Commercial Tire Technician I to service passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, and trailers. You’ll perform tire mounting, repairs, rotations, and balancing, whether in the shop or on roadside calls, helping customers stay safe and on the road.

This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, reliable attendance, and clear communication. You’ll operate a service truck, work indoors and outdoors, and participate in comprehensive paid training

Qualifications

• Previous commercial tire, automotive, mechanical, or related service experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely operate a commercial service truck.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic computer skills and experience using service or POS systems preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple service calls.
• Depen dable attendance and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Mount, dismount, repair, and replace tires on passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, and trailers.
• Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation.
• Repair punctures and perform approved tire repairs.
• Rotate tires to maximize tread life and improve vehicle performance.
• Balance tires using conventional balancing equipment and commercial balancing methods.
• Respond to roadside service calls at customer locations, including highways and facilities.
• Safely operate a company-issued commercial service truck.
• Maintain communication with dispatch or the service coordinator throughout each service call.
• Complete accurate documentation for all work performed.
