Job summary

Colony Tire is seeking a full-time Commercial Service Tire Technician to repair and replace tires on commercial vehicles at our Wilson, NC location and on service calls. The role includes handling emergency after-hours calls for additional compensation and working in a fast-paced environment with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities include tire inspection, mounting/dismounting tires on various rims, balancing wheels, documenting work orders, and safely moving vehicles in and out

Qualifications

  • Experience in tire service and repair operations in a shop or field setting.
  • Ability to meet commercial driver qualifications and hold a valid driver's license.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and quality standards in tire service.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect tires and wheels before and after service per procedures.
  • Identify repairable tire conditions and perform approved repairs.
  • Review work orders and communicate job details with supervisors and team members.
  • Document all work performed in accordance with company policies.
  • Mount and dismount tires on various rims and match configurations.
  • Balance wheels using balancing machines and apply counterweights.
  • Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
  • Move vehicles safely in and out of shop and customer locations.

Job description

Job Title: Commercial Service Tire Technician

Colony Tire is currently seeking a full-time Commercial Service Tire Technician to join our team! Our technicians work for competitive pay in a fast-paced environment. Summary

Employee will be required to repair and replace tires on commercial vehicles at the Colony location, customer locations and on service calls on the side of a highway, as well as other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities; include but not limited to
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle required for the position and be able to meet commercial driver qualification requirements.

  • Complete after-hours calls (Technicians will receive additional compensation for handling emergency after-hours calls.)

  • Inspect tires and wheels before and after service in accordance with established safety and quality procedures.
  • Identify repairable tire conditions and perform approved repairs.
  • Review work orders and communicate job details with supervisors and team members.
  • Accurately document all work performed in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Safely unbolt and re-bolt wheels using hand and power tools.
  • Mount and dismount tires on drop-center, semi-drop-center, and multi-piece rims.
  • Properly match and assemble dual tire configurations.
  • Identify correct tire specifications and inflate tires to proper size, ply, and load requirements.
  • Balance wheels using balancing machines and apply required counterweights.
  • Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects from tires.
  • Safely move vehicles in and out of the shop and customer locations.
  • Physical Abilities:
    • Flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, and reach.
    • Strength to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.

  • Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding of machines, tools, and equipment used in tire service, including proper use, maintenance, and repair.
  • Equipment Operation & Control: Ability to operate shop equipment and tools safely and effectively.

  • Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material: Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems/defects.
  • Performing General Physical Activities: Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling or materials.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position operates in all types of indoor and outdoor work environments, there for exposure to heat and cold is to be expected. Employees frequently work with dirty and greasy parts and in awkward positions. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. As a result, minor workplace injuries are not uncommon, but employees usually can avoid serious accidents if safe practices are observed.
