Job summary

Colony Tire is seeking a full-time Commercial Fleet Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and service tires on a variety of fleet vehicles. You will perform preventive maintenance, balance wheels, and document work performed, both at the Colony location and on service calls, including highway assistance.

Ideal candidates will have a valid license, the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and experience with fleet vehicle service.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet commercial driver qualification requirements.
  • Experience servicing fleet or commercial vehicles preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose, maintain, repair and service a wide variety of fleet vehicles.
  • Must lift up to 100 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.

Job Title: Commercial Fleet Service Technician

Colony Tire is currently seeking a full-time Commercial Fleet Service Technician to join our team! Our technicians work for competitive pay in a fast-paced environment. Summary:

Employee will be required to repair and replace tires on commercial vehicles. Employee will be required to diagnose, maintain, repair, and service a wide variety of fleet and specialized vehicles at the Colony location, customer locations and on service calls on the side of a highway, as well as other duties as assigned by the manager.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities; included but not limited to:
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle required for the position and be able to meet commercial driver qualification requirements.
  • Diagnose, maintain, repair, and service a wide variety of fleet and specialized vehicles.
  • Service vehicles with fuel, oil, and coolant; perform preventive maintenance by checking items such as battery condition, tire air pressure, coolant and oil levels, and hydraulic and brake fluid levels.
  • Maintain vehicle records such as mileage logs, maintenance schedules, recall/warranty issues, and repairs needed and completed.
  • Observe vehicle safety and warning indicators and make needed corrections.
  • Schedule and coordinate vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Assist with fleet vehicle repair after damage and/or repair.
  • Conduct installation and removal of auxiliary equipment.
  • Keep records related to work accomplished or products used.
  • Follow established procedures to inspect tires, and wheels before and after service.
  • Determine repairable tire conditions and make such repairs.
  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
  • Document work performed accurately and according to company policy.
  • Unbolt and re-bolt wheels from/to vehicles, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools.
  • Mount and dismount any type of tire on drop center, semi-drop center and multi-piece rims.
  • Match mating of dual assemblies.
  • Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size, ply, and load requirement.
  • Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels.
  • Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
  • Pull vehicles in and out of shop safely.

  • Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems- Analyzing information and evaluation results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The environment may or may not be air conditioned/heated seasonally. Employees frequently work with dirty and greasy parts and in awkward positions. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific visions abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. As a result, minor workplace injuries are not uncommon, but employees usually can avoid serious accidents if safe practices are observed.
