Walters Recycling & Refuse is seeking Commercial Swing Drivers in Blaine, MN. You will substitute for open routes and provide operational support to complete deliveries and pickups, using route planning tools and maintaining safety throughout driving shifts.

The role requires a Class A or B CDL, a clean driving record, and the ability to read maps and operate under DOT rules. Expect diverse weather conditions and a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Drive heavy-duty trucks on open routes and back up safely in traffic and tight spaces.
• Update daily driver logs and complete pre/post trip inspections.
• Coordinate with Dispatch and Operations Manager to meet customer needs.

About the role:

Our Commercial Swing Drivers substitute for the drivers of open routes, supporting drivers to complete routes, and provides other operational support as directed by the Operations Manager, which may include training of new drivers , or participating in routing projects. Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachment providing the pick up service of containers filled with waste or recyclable material. Containers may weigh in excess of 1000 pounds and at times require drivers to maneuver wheeled containers to a pick up stage area. Driver will transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity .

This position is Safety Sensitive. It requires drug and alcohol testing in compliance with 49 CFR part 382, this includes marijuana. This position also requires an active DOT health card. To get a DOT health card, candidates must have a valid Minnesota Driver's License.

Responsibilities:

Drivers navigates high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential too successfully perform this job.

Required work hours may be up to the legal limits allowed and may require weekend on holiday weeks.

Drivers must be able to read and understand a map, complete daily driver logs as well as pre and post trip truck inspections.

This position will require you to work in all weather conditions including extreme hot or cold, wet or dry conditions.

Positions and returns containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced. enclosure doors are closed and secured, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.

Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer’s location clean and free of debris.

Performs all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

Notifies Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways or potential safety hazards.

Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Operations Manager.

Required Qualifications:

Class A or B CDL License

18 years of age or older & eligible to work in the US

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally, bending, twisting, repetitive motion, and sitting for long periods of time.

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen , DOT health evaluation, and physical assessment.
