Job summary

WAHVE is seeking veteran insurance professionals to work from home as Commercial Surety Bond Underwriters. This long-term remote role lets you apply your underwriting expertise with flexible full- or part-time hours while enjoying company benefits.

Ideal candidates bring 25 years of full-time experience and 10 recent years in Commercial Lines P&C underwriting with a Surety Bond focus. AFSB designation is a plus. You will collaborate with carriers, MGAs, and wholesale brokers.

Responsibilities

• Assess financial condition, credit history, and character of accounts.
• Make critical underwriting decisions on risk acceptability and pricing.

• Manage a portfolio of new and renewal business.
• Develop and maintain relationships with producers, brokers, and reinsurers.
• Maintain accurate file documentation per company guidelines.
• Aim for profitable underwriting within the assigned book.

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING

We have assignments available to help ourinsurance carrier, MGA, or wholesale brokerclients inCommercial Surety Bond Underwriter positions. This role requires strong math aptitude as well as excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities include:

• Utilize solid understanding of financial and accounting principles to demonstrate sound business judgment in evaluation of the financial condition, experience, credit history and character of contract accounts.
• Make critical underwriting decisions on risk acceptability and pricing.
• Rate and review bonds for premium and classification accuracy.
• Manage a portfolio of new and/or renewal business with focus on book management.
• Develop and maintain superior relationships with producers, brokers, and reinsurers.
• Maintain accurate file documentation in accordance with company guidelines.
• Achieve acceptable underwriting profit levels within assigned book of business.
• AFSB designation is a plus (not required).

TO BECOME A WORK-AT-HOME VINTAGE EXPERT, WE REQUIRE

• 25 years of full-time work experience
• 10 most recent years of Commercial Lines Property & Casualty underwriting experience with the current concentration in the Surety Bond sector
