Our client is experiencing significant growth and is looking to hire a Commercial Specialty Underwriting Supervisor to lead and oversee a team of Commercial Property & Casualty Underwriters that will be responsible for writing new and renewal business, with a strong focus within the Cannabis Industry. The ideal candidate brings deep Commercial Underwriting expertise, proven leadership experience, and exposure to additional lines such as Commercial Property and General Liability. This is a strategic role focused on driving underwriting profitability, enhancing operational processes, and mentoring a team of underwriters. This is a fully remote opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, fostering collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence
• Oversee underwriting performance across the Property book, ensuring profitability and compliance with company guidelines
• Collaborate with senior leadership to refine underwriting strategies and develop products that respond to evolving market demands
• Review complex risks and contracts, providing guidance on coverage, structure, and pricing decisions
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and take corrective actions when needed to maintain healthy loss ratios
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders
• Offer technical support and leadership across related lines including GL, WC, Auto, and Professional Liability
• Participate in strategic discussions to improve workflow, technology, and underwriting best practices

Requirements:

• 7–10+ years of commercial underwriting experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or management role
• Strong background in Property underwriting is required
• Exposure to General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Auto, and Professional Lines is preferred
• E&S or surplus lines experience is helpful but not required
• Excellent leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, or related field preferred
• Professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM) are a plus
