Job description

Meta's Infrastructure Supply Chain Engineering team is responsible for securing and scaling the technologies that power Meta's AI, data center, and cloud infrastructure globally. You will operate at the intersection of technology roadmap development, supplier strategy, and commercial execution — partnering with hardware engineering, capacity planning, and finance to shape how Meta sources and deploys next-generation compute and storage solutions. The Sourcing Manager for Strategic Silicon serves as the primary commercial contact for strategic silicon and firmware component sourcing within Meta's infrastructure supply base. This is a commercial sourcing role requiring deep technical domain knowledge in semiconductor technologies — including high-speed interconnect and interface silicon, platform management and security controllers, programmable logic, storage interface ICs, strategic passive components, and platform firmware. Working closely with engineering teams and ODM partners, you will lead supplier strategy development, negotiate commercial terms, drive new source qualification, and manage strategic vendor relationships. You will own contracts, joint development models, IP/licensing engagements, and global commodity strategies that enable Meta to meet time-to-development and time-to-production goals while optimizing total landed cost.

Commercial Sourcing Manager, Strategic Silicon Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for strategic silicon and firmware components — owning vendor selection, negotiation, contracting, and long-term commodity roadmaps that ensure supply continuity, cost optimization, and technology alignment with Meta's AI/ML infrastructure plans
  • Lead strategic supplier management across silicon vendors, IP licensors, and firmware partners — including scorecards, business reviews, should-cost modeling, risk mitigation (capacity assurance, lead-time management, geopolitical exposure), and total cost of ownership improvement
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Meta engineering, ODM partners, and capacity planning teams to influence component selection, architecture decisions, and design-for-cost/supply initiatives across all strategic silicon categories
  • Provide semiconductor market intelligence — tracking technology evolution, fab/foundry dynamics, emerging standards, and supply-demand trends — to inform strategic direction and identify future growth sourcing areas
  • Perform end-to-end sourcing execution, including RFI/RFQ/RFP leadership, supply market analysis, new source qualification, prototype sourcing for NPI, and supplier development aligned with Meta's technology roadmap
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BS or equivalent in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Materials Science, Mechanical), Supply Chain, or business-related field with at least 12 years of relevant experience
  • 10+ years of sourcing management or supply chain management experience in commercial sourcing roles with direct semiconductor, silicon, and/or electronic component categories
  • Technical understanding of semiconductor technologies, silicon component categories (interface ICs, controllers, programmable logic, security modules), and their role in server/data center architectures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of silicon supply chain capacity, cost, and lead-time drivers
  • Demonstrated results of improving supply chain and supplier performance, including the use of cost models and objective-based performance measures
  • Experience working with ODMs and contract manufacturers in the electronics/server hardware industry
  • Proven track record of developing and executing commodity strategies at scale
  • Experience presenting sourcing strategies and recommendations to leadership and influencing decisions through data-driven proposals
  • Experience driving cross-functional alignment across engineering, supply chain, and commercial functions
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with data center or hyperscale infrastructure hardware sourcing at scale
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Knowledge of interconnect standards (CXL, PCIe Gen 5/Gen 6, NVMe) and their evolving ecosystems
  • Experience with programmable logic (CPLD/FPGA) sourcing and supplier ecosystems
  • Familiarity with industry standards and qualification processes for silicon components in data center applications
  • Knowledge of emerging silicon technologies for AI/ML accelerators, high-speed networking, or next-generation server architectures
  • Experience with firmware sourcing (BIOS, BMC) and associated IP/licensing models
  • Understanding of security in silicon (HSM, RoT) and compliance requirements
  • MS or MBA
