Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Commercial Installer to work onsite with commercial customers, to set up and program Integrated Security systems, and to dismantle and reconstruct equipment when required.

You will read blueprints, install devices, follow wiring diagrams, test system operation, and coordinate with police/fire departments. Union membership or willingness to join is required; 1–2 years electrical/electronic experience and strong customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years electrical/electronic equipment experience with proven mechanical aptitude.
• Experience working within the federal sector.
• Must be a current union member or willing to join.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to operate a fleet vehicle safely and responsibly.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Installs devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer.
• Works safely and cleans up installation debris.
• Contacts customers prior to installation date to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates per supervisor instructions.
• Follows wiring diagrams and hookup procedures.
• Tests system operation and establishes service.
• Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and manages emergency notifications.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coaches and mentors less experienced installers.
