Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair work on roofing systems (metal, pitched, tar).
• Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance to roofing and lightning protection.
• Assist maintenance carpentry team as needed.
• Plan, organize work and meet deadlines; handle multiple tasks daily.
• Coordinate with other trades for materials and requisitions.
• Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
• Inspect and diagnose problems for corrective action.
• On-call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
• Stock inventories and prepare material requisitions.
• Operate customer and company vehicles and equipment.

Job Overview

The Roofing Carpenter performs general roofing maintenance including minor repairs. This role is inclusive of lightning protection inspections and associated minor repairs. Work involves planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments, and making standard computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. The work requires rounded training and experience from an apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.

Pay Rate: $36.40 / hour

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair work on various types of roofing systems, i.e. metal, pitched and tar material.


• Performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance to roofing and lightning protection systems.


• Assists maintenance carpentry team as needed.


• Plan, organize work and meet all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.


• Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.


• Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.


• Able to inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.


• Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.


• Assists with periodic stock inventories and prepares material requisitions for replacement items.


• Required to safely operate customer and company motor vehicles and/or other equipment.


• Will be required to perform various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.


• Assists and supports other trade groups and/or department staff in daily operations as needed.


• Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.


• Ability to work overtime as needed


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

• High school graduate or equivalent GED.


• Five (5) years of commercial roofing experience completing similar work.


• Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.


• Knowledge of required hand and power tools.


• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.


• Ability to perform assigned work tasks with minimal supervision.


• Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.


• U.S. Citizenship.


• Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.


• Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.


• Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred

• Possess required security clearance.


• Knowledge of lightning protection systems.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
