Job summary

Shrader Tire & Oil is seeking a Commercial Retread Technician in Michigan. You will visually and electronically inspect tires, repair injuries, and apply tread; operate X-ray and curing equipment; and manage tracking and inventory in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety with PPE, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing up to 10 hours daily. Competitive pay with a productivity bonus and weekly pay, in a family-owned company with 75+ years of service.

Qualifications

• Must be able to move, and lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for up to 10 hours a day.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment operation.
• Ability to utilize air-powered hand tools.
• Work is performed inside the manufacturing facility, with exposure to dirt, rubber dust, noise, and seasonal temperature changes.
• Must adhere to all safety guidelines including PPE.

• Visually and electronically inspect tires, scan tires into system, repair tire injuries and fill with extrusion gum.
• Buffing old tread, apply new tread compound, operate tire X-ray machine, and cure with chamber; monitor equipment settings.
• Operate computer-based tracking system throughout production.
• Maintain inventory levels and use inventory scanning to keep levels current.

What we pay

• $18-$20 Based on Prior Retread Experience
• $1.50/hour Productivity Bonus Available
• Paid Weekly

What you will do

• Visually and electronically inspect tires, scanning tires into system, repair tire injuries and fill with extrusion gum
• Buffing old tread off tire casings, apply new tread compound on casing, operate tire x-ray machine as necessary, and operate curing chamber and monitor equipment settings
• Operation of computer-based tracking system throughout the production process
• Maintain sufficient and accurate inventory levels with regards to material used in the retreading process and utilize the automated inventory-scanning feature to keep inventory levels current

Position Requirements

What you need to know and have

• Must be able to move, and stack truck tires, tread, and other materials repetitively This includes the ability to lift to 50 pounds and stand for up to 10 hours a day. Occasional bending, walking, kneeling, and stooping are also required
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment operation
• Ability to utilize air-powered hand tools
• Work is performed inside the manufacturing facility, with exposure to dirt, rubber dust, noise, and seasonal temperature changes
• Must adhere to all safety guidelines including the wearing of appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment - safety glasses, hi-vis, safety footwear, etc.)
• Other duties assigned as needed

• Monday - Friday 1st Shift - 5:00 am to 1:30 pm
