Job summary

Slide Insurance in Tampa seeks an experienced underwriter to evaluate and underwrite commercial residential property risks, including homeowners and residential exposures. You will analyze applications, inspections, data, and loss history to assess risk and apply guidelines consistently.

The role focuses on pricing adequacy, adherence to filed rates, and maintaining clear documentation for audits and regulatory reviews, while supporting profitable growth and timely quotes and policy issuance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Insurance, Finance, Economics, Business preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Property & Homeowner's insurance industry.
• 2+ years underwriting experience in commercial residential property.
• State underwriting or adjuster licenses, where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite commercial residential property risks, including homeowners and residential exposures.
• Analyze applications, inspections, third-party data, and loss history to assess risk acceptability.
• Apply underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and pricing rules consistently.
• Identify and escalation risks outside of authority or guidelines.
• Ensure pricing adequacy and adherence to filed rates and forms.
• Support profitable growth by maintaining disciplined risk selection.
• Monitor risk characteristics and trends impacting loss experience.
• Participate in underwriting audits and quality reviews.
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with state regulations, filings, and internal controls.
• Maintain accurate documentation to support audit, regulatory, and SOX requirements.
• Support responses to regulatory inquiries related to underwriting practices.
• Communicate underwriting requirements and decisions clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
• Meet service-level standards for quote turnaround and policy issuance.
• Maintain underwriting files in accordance with company documentation standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve underwriting workflows and efficiency.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.
