Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of related installation or hands-on trade experience.
Experience in commercial door installation, repair, or service preferred.
Ability to read safety instructions and installation manuals.

Responsibilities

Remove and replace existing commercial doors, operators, hardware, and related equipment.
Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial door systems.
Work with overhead doors, rolling steel doors, torsion springs, hinges, door sections, operators, dock equipment, locks, and related hardware.
Evaluate job sites to determine installation requirements and necessary repairs.
Inspect tools, equipment, and materials before starting each job for safety and readiness.
Document service needs, installation requirements, and recommended additional work.
Communicate with sales reps and scheduling supervisors regarding job requirements.
Maintain an organized inventory of tools and parts in the service vehicle.
Explain completed work and basic maintenance to customers.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment and dispose of debris properly.

Pay: $600–$800 per week, depending on experience (DOE)

Additional Compensation: Bonus opportunities and overtime

About the Position

JKN Door Company is seeking a dependable, motivated Commercial Door Installation & Service Technician to join our growing team in the Houston, Texas area.

The ideal candidate has experience in commercial door installation, repair, construction, or a related trade. This position involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of commercial and industrial door systems.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, works well independently and with a team, and is committed to providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Remove and replace existing commercial doors, operators, hardware, and related equipment.
Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial door systems.
Work with a variety of equipment, including overhead doors, rolling steel doors, torsion springs, hinges, door sections, operators, dock equipment, locks, and associated hardware.
Evaluate job sites to determine installation requirements, necessary repairs, and appropriate service procedures.
Inspect tools, equipment, and materials before beginning each job to ensure they are safe and ready for use.
Identify potential obstructions, structural modifications, or additional work required before installation.
Document service needs, installation requirements, and recommended additional work.
Communicate with sales representatives and scheduling supervisors regarding job requirements and necessary approvals.
Perform minor framing, structural adjustments, and installation modifications when necessary.
Maintain an organized inventory of tools, replacement parts, and equipment in the service vehicle.
Complete installation and repair assignments efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
Explain completed work, equipment operation, safety features, and basic maintenance recommendations to customers.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper disposal of materials and job-site debris.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of related installation, construction, or hands-on trade experience.
Previous experience in the commercial door industry is preferred.
Experience with overhead doors, rolling steel doors, commercial operators, or dock equipment is a plus.
Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to read and understand safety instructions, installation manuals, maintenance procedures, and technical documentation.
Ability to accurately use a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
Willingness to learn new products, equipment, and installation techniques.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable transportation and ability to commute to the Houston / Missouri City area.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to perform repetitive physical activities, including lifting, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing.
Comfortable working on ladders and scissor lifts at varying heights.
Ability to safely operate tools and equipment required for commercial door installation and repair.
