Van Metre in Fairfax, VA seeks a Commercial Maintenance Technician (Building Engineer) to maintain, troubleshoot and repair property equipment across two sites in Fairfax and surrounding areas. The role requires hands-on maintenance, safe operation of tools and adherence to CMMS workflows, with on-call rotations.

You will read manuals, plan preventive maintenance, manage supplies, supervise cleaning staff, and coordinate with Facility Director.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on maintenance experience.
• Experience in commercial maintenance or building engineering preferred.
• Ability to use basic tools safely and perform routine maintenance tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform scheduled maintenance across multiple properties.
• Read manuals/work orders and perform required maintenance and service.
• Inspect, diagnose, repair and service machinery, systems and infrastructure.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and ensure reliability of equipment.
• Manage supplies and coordinate with Facility Director and Property Manager.
• Oversee cleaning staff and report findings to management.
• Participate in on-call rotation; service properties across Winchester to Arlington, VA.
• Perform other duties as needed.
