Job summary

Van Metre is seeking a Commercial Maintenance Technician (Building Engineer) to service two Fairfax, VA properties. You will perform diversified maintenance, troubleshoot and repair building systems, and coordinate with management and tenants.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with a completed craft apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on property maintenance experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Ability to manage daily communication through Outlook or similar platforms.
• Experience using CMMS or work order systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan and undertake scheduled maintenance at multiple properties throughout the portfolio.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities to ensure efficiency and reliability.
• Detect faulty operations and report issues to supervision.
• Oversee cleaning staff and coordinate with Facility Director and Property Manager.
• Participate in on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
