Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and banking experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of lending services and ability to analyze financial information.
  • Strong relationship-management, communication, negotiation, and business-development skills.
  • Strong knowledge of and established relationships within the Massillon and Stark County business community preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant banking or financial-analysis systems.
  • Willingness to meet customer needs outside traditional business hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Develops relationships with prospective business customers through outreach and referrals from CPAs, attorneys, and other partners.
  • Builds, retains, and expands strong relationships with First Federal business customers through proactive relationship management.
  • Analyzes applicants' creditworthiness, financial condition, and ability to repay.
  • Negotiates credit terms per First Federal policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates loan requests and presents recommendations to loan committees or Board of Directors.
  • Manages a commercial loan portfolio with ongoing contact, reviews, monitoring, and collections as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities to connect customers with additional bank products and services.
  • Collaborates with Financial Center Managers and Cash Management Advisors on joint calls.
  • Represents First Federal in Massillon market through community engagement and networking.
  • Develops strategies to generate new business and expand the bank's footprint in Stark County.
  • Maintains visibility in Massillon and Stark County through events and organizations to strengthen relationships and growth.

Job Summary:

The Commercial Loan Officer develops and manages business banking relationships throughout Stark County, serving as a trusted financial advisor to local businesses. This role identifies customer needs, structures tailored lending solutions, manages a commercial loan portfolio, and contributes to the continued growth and success of First Federal Community Bank.

This is a unique opportunity to help establish and expand First Federal's presence in the Massillon market. The successful candidate will play a key role in building relationships, developing new business opportunities, and strengthening First Federal's reputation as a community-focused financial partner throughout Stark County.

As a trusted advisor, the Commercial Loan Officer helps business owners achieve their goals through personalized financial solutions, proactive relationship management, and responsive service. Specific Responsibilities
  • Develops relationships with prospective business customers through outreach efforts and referral partnerships with CPAs, attorneys, insurance agents, and other professional partners
  • Builds, retains, and expands strong, long-term relationships with First Federal business customers through exceptional service and proactive relationship management
  • Analyzes applicants' overall creditworthiness, financial condition, and ability to repay.
  • Negotiates credit terms, including costs, repayment methods, collateral requirements, and interest-rate structures, in accordance with First Federal policies and procedures
  • Evaluates commercial loan requests and presents recommendations to the appropriate loan committees and/or Board of Directors
  • Actively manages a commercial loan portfolio, including ongoing customer contact, annual reviews, portfolio monitoring, and collection activities as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities to connect customers with additional bank products and services based on their needs
  • Collaborates with Financial Center Managers and Cash Management Advisors on joint customer and prospect calls
  • Serves as a key ambassador for First Federal in the Massillon market, helping establish and grow the Bank's presence through business development, relationship building, community engagement, and professional networking
  • Develops and executes strategies to generate new business opportunities and expand First Federal's commercial banking footprint throughout Stark County
  • Maintains a visible presence in the Massillon and Stark County market by participating in community events, service activities, business organizations, and networking opportunities that strengthen relationships, increase brand awareness, and support growth
  • Represents First Federal's commitment to Invest in Our Community through active involvement in organizations and initiatives that support local businesses and communities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management
