Job summary

Orion Placement in Michigan is seeking an experienced commercial litigator to lead high-stakes disputes, develop case strategy, and manage depositions and motions. You will work closely with sophisticated clients and senior litigators in a hybrid in-office model, prioritizing ownership and effective advocacy.

The role requires a JD, Michigan bar admission, and 3+ years of relevant litigation experience; 5+ years strongly preferred, with a track record in complex business disputes and strategic

• 3+ years of directly relevant commercial litigation experience required.
• 5+ years of sophisticated commercial litigation experience strongly preferred.

• Experience taking and defending depositions.
• Strong substantive motion drafting and legal writing skills.
• Strong oral advocacy and communication skills.

• Trial experience is a plus but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage sophisticated commercial litigation and high-stakes business disputes.
• Handle matters involving breach of contract, business torts, shareholder or partnership disputes, fraud, fiduciary duty claims, and related business litigation.
• Develop case strategy and analyze complex legal and factual issues.
• Manage written discovery, document production, and other discovery responsibilities.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and experts.
• Draft persuasive pleadings, briefs, and substantive motions.
• Argue motions as appropriate based on experience and matter needs.
• Conduct legal research and provide practical analysis to clients and the litigation team.
• Work effectively with expert witnesses.
• Participate in mediation, negotiation, settlement strategy, and client counseling.
• Prepare cases for trial and take increasingly meaningful ownership of matters.
• Communicate directly with sophisticated clients and build credibility quickly.
• Collaborate with experienced attorneys while remaining receptive to mentorship and feedback.

Pay:$110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per hour
