The Sarasota, Florida office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP has an opportunity for an exceptional associate to join its litigation practice. The candidate should have at least 2 years of defense commercial litigation experience in state and federal courts, excellent research and writing abilities, and a strong commitment to client service.

Florida Bar admission is required, and a hybrid arrangement is available on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited school and active Florida Bar.
Minimum 1–3 years of commercial litigation experience in local/state court.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Ability to work independently and in a team with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Conduct legal research and develop case strategy for commercial disputes.
Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff on case strategy and litigation management.
Draft pleadings, discovery, and legal memoranda.
Attend and participate in court hearings, depositions, and trials.
Maintain positive client relationships and provide updates on case developments.
Manage caseload efficiently while meeting litigation deadlines and billable requirements.
