Job description

Position Overview

Foley & Lardner is seeking an associate with 3‑4 years (Class of 2022‑2023) of business litigation experience to join the Commercial Litigation Practice Group in our Denver office.

Responsibilities

• Persuasive legal writer and oral advocate with substantial experience with complex business litigation matters in state and federal courts
• Conducting and managing written and document discovery
• Researching and drafting pleadings, motions, and other court filings
• Conducting/defending depositions
• Preparing witnesses for testimony
• Appearing for status conferences
• Arguing motions in both state and federal court
• Participation in settlement conferences and negotiations (preferred)
• Experience with trial preparation (preferred)

• Comfortable interacting directly with partners and clients
• Well‑rounded, dynamic, highly motivated lawyer who demonstrates the ability to thrive in a sophisticated practice in a busy, collaborative environment
• Strong academic credentials required
• JD from an ABA‑approved law school, good standing, active member of the Colorado Bar
• Admission to the Colorado Bar required; admission to the California Bar strongly preferred
• Current judicial clerks must apply directly; may not be submitted by a legal recruiter

Salary and Benefits

In support of transparency and equity, Foley provides salary ranges for all positions. The expected salary range for this position is $260,000‑$310,000, determined by education, experience, internal pay equity at Foley, and other factors permitted by law.
