Job summary

gpac is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate in downtown Chicago with 3+ years of experience to join its growing litigation practice. The role offers mentorship and hands-on development while handling high-stakes, complex disputes.

The position involves drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, taking depositions, and supporting mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation with exposure to direct client interaction. Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active Illinois bar membership.
3+ years of commercial litigation experience at a law firm.
Strong legal writing and research skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Experience with depositions, hearings, or trial prep preferred.
Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

Handle a broad range of commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, business torts, shareholder issues, and other complex civil cases.
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests/responses with precision and efficiency.
Conduct legal research and provide strategic analysis to support litigation strategy.
Take and defend depositions, argue motions, and manage hearings.
Collaborate with senior attorneys in preparing for mediation, arbitration, and trial.
Communicate effectively with clients, keeping them informed and engaged throughout the litigation process.
