Job summary

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record.
• Admission to the Florida bar.
• Ability to interface directly with attorneys and clients.

• Civil litigation case management experience – preferably in both State and Federal Courts.

Responsibilities

• Handle all phases of complex commercial litigation, including fact investigation, legal research, drafting discovery, and pleadings.
• Take and defend depositions, participate in mediations, and communicate with opposing counsel and clients.
• Appear in court for motions and pre‑hearing proceedings and assist trial teams.

Spencer Fane has an opening in our Tampa, Florida office for a Commercial Litigation Associate with 3-5 years of experience. An ideal candidate will value office collegiality and want to contribute to fostering a great culture. Preferred experience includes a background with real estate, consumer finance, and construction litigation, and a history of handling all phases of with real estate, consumer finance, and construction litigation, and a history of handling all phases of complex commercial litigation, including fact investigation, legal research, drafting discovery, preparing pleadings, taking and defending depositions, participating in mediations, communicating with opposing counsel and clients, appearing in court for motions and pre‑hearing proceedings, and trial experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Position is generally sedentary in nature; involves sitting most of the time, but may involve the need for inter‑office mobility for brief periods of time
