Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated underwriting trainee to join our team in Montgomery, AL. The program trains you in applying coverage rules and guidelines to make underwriting decisions in alignment with company philosophy.

You will learn coverages, interpret policies, read endorsements, and assemble information to form sound decisions. The role emphasizes communication with agents and completion of the underwriter training program as you develop expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty underwriting.
• Ability to organize data, multi-task and make decisions independently.
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Continually develop product knowledge through approved educational programs.

This job performs and applies insurance coverage, rules and guidelines to execute the underwriting decision-making process according to Company underwriting philosophy. This job includes training and development through completion of the Company’s underwriter training program for the assigned line of insurance and requires the person to:
