Job summary

Burns & Wilcox in Kentucky is seeking an experienced underwriting leader to build and grow a book of business while serving as the primary contact for agencies and clients. You will rate, quote, and bind risks for complex renewals and new business, develop referrals, and monitor metrics to drive growth and retention.

The role offers leadership of junior underwriters, a focus on sales and marketing, and a hybrid work arrangement with ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of commercial lines underwriting or brokerage experience required, excess & surplus experience preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing.
• Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail.
• Interest in continued education and professional development.
• Insurance license, CPCU, CIC or comparable designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute marketing plan to increase new and renewal business.

• Lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters.
