Job summary

Central Insurance is seeking a Commercial Lines Technician to help fulfill the promise to our customers by recognizing, understanding, and responding to their needs with a service-first mindset.

You will develop knowledge of Commercial Lines products, assist with submissions, endorsements, and underwriting coordination while maintaining accuracy and strong communication with agents and underwriters across states served.

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience
• Property & Casualty Insurance License preferred
• Insurance designation preferred

Responsibilities

• Present information clearly to groups or individuals and provide outstanding hospitality
• Understand Commercial Lines products, pricing, and coverages in states Central services
• Screen, quote, and process new submissions, endorsements, renewals for policies
• Coordinate documentation for underwriting files and communicate with underwriters
• Train underwriters, agents, and marketing representatives on the Commercial Lines system
• Collaborate with underwriting and marketing teams to support new and renewal client base
• Build strong relationships with agents, underwriters, and stakeholders
• Assist with data entry, risk analysis, and policy needs
• Conduct workshops for the Commercial Lines department and other customers
• Perform department audits and participate in testing initiatives

As a Commercial Lines Technician team member,you will help fulfil the promise that Central makes to our customers by recognizing, understanding, and responding to the needs of our internal and external customers. We are seeking individuals with a service first mentality and effective communication skills, all while maintaining a high level of attention to details.

What we are looking for

• 1 year experience in customer service
• Property & Casualty Insurance License- preferred
• Insurance related designation- preferred

What you’ll do

• Effectively present information and respond to questions to groups or individuals while providing outstanding hospitality
• Learns and maintains a demonstrated understanding of Commercial Lines insurance, company products, pricing, and coverages in all states where Central does business.
• Develops, demonstrates, and applies knowledge of the Commercial Lines policy system as well as other related and supporting systems. Utilizes the policy system and other related supporting systems to make sound decisions.
• Independently screens, quotes and processes new submissions, issues, renewals, and endorsements for policies.
• Coordinates documentation for underwriting files.
• Communicates and coordinates any necessary follow up with Underwriters.
• Trains underwriters, agents, marketing representatives, and other stakeholders on Commercial Lines system
• Works pro-actively with underwriter(s) in support of our new and renewal client base (both PL and CL)
• Conducts workshops for the Commercial Lines department, marketing, agents, underwriters, and other customers
• Creates and maintains strong relationships through collaboration with agents, Underwriters, Marketing and other stakeholders
• Works with Commercial Lines Underwriting team to collect information, perform data entry, analyze risk factors and more to meet policy needs
• Researches and responds to customer needs
• Responsible for providing the highest level of accuracy and support to the underwriter(s) throughout the new business lifecycle and ongoing renewal account maintenance.
• Performs initial review, triage and processing of small new business and renewal submissions.
• Performs specialized rating functions as they relate to assigned product line
• Responds to verbal or written inquiries via underwriters by agents within the department customer service standards.
• Performs the initial renewal review within department authority and makes recommendations when sending to the underwriter.
• Orders reports as requested by underwriters, completes general duties and reviews various reports within department authority
• Analyzes rating sequence to determine premium is being calculated correctly.
• Reviews endorsements to ensure compliance with our underwriting guidelines.
• Assists with testing initiatives
• Performs department audits
• Uses Commercial lines knowledge to train others

Hiring Range

$23/hour–$30/hour represents typical starting salaries and is a portion of the full pay range for the role.

Starting pay is determined based on several factors, including relevant experience, education, skills, and certifications. The full pay range is broader and is designed to provide employees with meaningful opportunities for salary growth as they develop their skills, increase proficiency, and advance in the role.
