Job summary

Desjardins is seeking a Temporary Commercial Lines Property Underwriter for a 12-month assignment. You will analyze risks, provide expert underwriting opinions, and develop recommendations aligned with growth, while possibly leading projects and creating tools to improve efficiency.

The role reports to the Commercial Lines Underwriting Manager and supports the Direct Agent Network across specified Canadian provinces; in-office presence in Aurora will be required for team-building days and is

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience.
• Intermediate experience in Call Centre.
• CIP designation.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Office 365.
• Available to work Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Rotation.
• Able to be present at the Aurora Office for mandatory in-office team building days.

Job description

Temporary 12-month position

As a Commercial Lines Property Underwriter, you will analyze risks based on established underwriting policies. You will review and diagnose concerns, provide expert opinions in accordance with underwriting rules, and develop recommendations aligned with our divisions growth ambitions. Additionally, you will create tools, methods, and processes to enhance underwriting efficiency. Your role could involve leading projects and initiatives that require extensive knowledge of commercial lines underwriting. You will collaborate with stakeholders across various fields to share ideas and solve problems, offering discipline-specific support to your unit, clients, and partners. You will report to the Commercial Lines Underwriting Manager. This role will support the Direct Agent Network (DAN) in the provinces of Ontario, Alberta and New Brunswick. More specifically, you will be required to:

• Take inbound calls to assist in developing cases to bind new and service existing risks in a call centre environment
• Coach agents and team members to write profitable risks and build a profitable book of business Service calls from Client Care Center – Aurora

What you bring to the table

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
