Job summary

Origin Bank invites college students to join the G.I.V.E Internship Program for an 8-week summer internship in Ruston, LA. interns will gain hands-on experience by engaging in loan prospect screening, financial analysis, and daily banking operations under guidance from experienced professionals.

The program emphasizes relationship-building, professional growth, and exposure to various bank departments through meetings, trainings, and site visits.

Qualifications

• Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
• Preferred majors: Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
• Currently pursuing junior or senior college-level studies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with screening loan prospects by modeling company financials and performing due diligence.
• Assist Commercial team with filing and distributing financial and collateral documentation after loans are closed.
• Organize and maintain customer files to assist Relationship Banker/Manager in portfolio management.
• Maintain knowledge of bank products and services; support Relationship Banker/Manager with daily servicing.
• Provide ongoing support to commercial/business relationship managers for collateral and financial statement tracking.
• Prepare a mock loan presentation to demonstrate understanding of lending processes using financial data and risk assessments.
• Attend local ribbon cuttings and meetings to engage with the community and learn about local business.
• Participate in weekly meetings and educational sessions covering credit analysis, leadership, and banking operations.

Job Description

We are currently seeking Junior and Senior college level students to work as an Intern for an 8-week summer internship from June 7th - August 5th. Our G.I.V.E Internship Program (Giving Interns Valuable Experience) provides the opportunity for interns to gain valuable insight into the banking industry through daily business interactions while learning the importance of building relationships and enhancing a strong work ethic.

Intern Responsibilities

• Assist with screening loan prospects by modeling company financials, creating pricing models, and performing company due diligence.
• Assist Commercial team with assimilating, filing, and distributing financial and collateral documentation to appropriate internal departments as needed once loans are closed.
• Organize and maintain customer files to assist Relationship Banker/Manager's ability to manage portfolios.
• Maintain current and ongoing knowledge of bank products and services; assist Relationship Banker/Manager with daily customer servicing.
• Provide ongoing support to commercial/business relationship managers for collateral and financial statement tracking and exception management.
• Prepare a mock loan presentation to demonstrate understanding of bank lending processes by incorporating financial data and risk assessments based on commercial lending guidelines.
• Attend locally scheduled ribbon cuttings, ground breakings, business meetings w/lender to meet and have an appreciation for the local communities we serve.
• Participate in weekly meetings and educational sessions, both in person and via Zoom, covering topics such as credit analysis, leadership, communication skills, and the operations of various bank departments to support professional growth and industry knowledge.

Intern Qualifications/Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Proficient in time management, multitasking and prioritizing projects
• General understanding of the banking industry
• Able to work independently or with a team
• Must have at minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
• Preferred Major: Business Administration - Finance - Accounting.
