Description

Exciting opportunity for a talented underwriter experienced in property & casualty commercial and/or farm insurance to join the territory/commercial and farm underwriting team at a financially secure and growing insurance company. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, along with attractive benefits such as a company car, laptop, and smartphone.

Responsibilities

1. Evaluate farm and commercial risks for acceptance, rejection, or modification in accordance with company procedures and guidelines. This includes physical inspections and providing risk management information to agents, policyholders, and prospects.
2. Prepare complete instructions for rating and issuing new policies.
3. Apply and substantiate individual rate modifications for farm and commercial policies (excluding Workers’ Compensation).
4. Participate in agent training sessions.
5. Develop and maintain a weekly fieldwork schedule, including travel within an assigned territory and office work for report and application completion, as well as communication with the home office and agents.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Minimum of 3 years' experience in farm and/or property/casualty underwriting.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. Strong team player abilities.
4. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
5. Basic knowledge of construction types and mechanical systems in buildings (plumbing, heating, electrical).
6. Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office.
7. Valid driver’s license.
8. Industry-related education such as CPCU or similar coursework is preferred.
9. Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, or a related field is preferred.
10. Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Hmong) are a plus.
