Job summary

Mercor is hiring a Commercial Insurance Broker & Risk Advisor for remote, contract-based work with 20–40 hours per week. The role focuses on designing exposure scenarios, preparing coverage analyses, and guiding clients through submissions, renewals, and recommendations. Strong writing, client communication, and understanding of broker-carrier dynamics are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in commercial insurance brokerage, risk advisory, placement, production, or account management.
• Experience working directly with commercial clients in segments such as small business, middle market, large/national accounts, or specialty risks.
• Understanding of submissions, quotes, binders, policy comparisons, coverage gaps, renewals, and broker-carrier-client communications.
• Ability to distinguish a broker's advisory obligations from a carrier's underwriting and claims responsibilities.
• Excellent written communication skills with high attention to detail.
• Comfort explaining insurance concepts and recommendations in clear, practical language.

Responsibilities

• Identify when model outputs overlook material exposures, recommend unsuitable coverage, confuse carrier and broker responsibilities, or mishandle account-specific constraints.
• Provide written feedback the research team uses to improve model behavior.

Position: Commercial Insurance Broker & Risk Advisor
Type: Contract
Compensation: $800/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 20–40 hours/week

• Experience with captives, large deductibles, loss-sensitive programs, or multinational accounts.
• Experience serving more than one industry or account segment.
• Active or previously held producer license.
