Job summary

Johnson Barrow Inc. seeks a dependable Commercial HVAC Technician to support customers after system installation. The role focuses on start-up, commissioning, maintenance, and service for commercial and industrial HVAC systems, with travel in the Pacific Northwest.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in commercial HVAC, EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification, and relevant electrical/controls expertise. Washington licenses and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial HVAC installation, service, maintenance, startup, or commissioning experience.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
• Washington Electrical Trainee Card.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration circuits, electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting practices.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and controls-related issues.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, sequences of operation, and manufacturer specifications.
• Ability to use service software, mobile devices, email, and electronic work order systems.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest, including occasional overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment start-up and commissioning of newly installed HVAC systems, including verifying proper operation and settings.
• Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize system life and efficiency.
• Diagnose, service, and repair HVAC equipment issues such as electrical faults, refrigerant leaks, or airflow imbalances.
• Verify that control systems and safety devices are functioning correctly.
• Work with project managers and installation teams to resolve post-installation issues quickly and effectively.
• Document all service and maintenance work performed, including test results, parts used, and system adjustments.
• Provide clear communication to customers about system performance, recommended improvements, and service needs.
• Maintain compliance with safety standards, codes, and company procedures.
• Participate in training to stay current with HVAC technologies, diagnostic tools, and energy efficiency practices.
