Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a Commercial HVAC Technician with hot-side equipment experience to support restaurant and foodservice clients in the Grand Rapids area. You will install, service, and repair rooftop units, fryers, ovens, and ventilation systems, ensuring safety and reliability.

The role emphasizes diagnosing HVAC and kitchen equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, reading schematics, maintaining records, and coordinating with clients.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in commercial HVAC service and repair.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC controls, motors, compressors, and burners.
• Experience with commercial kitchen hot-side equipment (fryers, ovens, grills) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, gas, and mechanical systems.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in high-temperature kitchen environments.
• EPA Certification for refrigerant handling preferred.
• Comfortable climbing ladders and working in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC and hot-side kitchen equipment (rooftop units, ovens, fryers, ventilation).
• Diagnose and resolve heating, cooling, and refrigeration issues in commercial settings.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals for proper service.
• Maintain service records, maintenance logs, and parts inventory.
• Communicate repair recommendations and service needs with clients and management.
• Respond to emergency service calls to restore kitchen and HVAC systems.
