Description

Coastal Mechanical, a Rogers Building Solutions business unit, is one of the largest mechanical contractors in the Southeast and is currently seeking HVAC Service Technicians to work on large commercial projects in the Tampa area. Work is primarily in the healthcare, educational, industrial, and Government sectors. Employer conducts background checks, motor vehicle checks, and drug screening. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

Technical Experience

• Proven experience in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting commercial HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with controls systems, including thermostats, VAV boxes, etc.

Problem-Solving Skills

• Ability to diagnose and repair complex HVAC systems efficiently.
• Skilled in identifying root causes of malfunctions and implementing effective solutions.

Mechanical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical principles related to HVAC systems.

Tools and Equipment Proficiency

• Comfortable using standard HVAC tools (e.g., multimeters, gauges, and hand tools).
• Knowledge of specialized equipment like vacuum pumps and refrigerant recovery systems.

Physical and Safety Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50–75 lbs).
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, or in varying weather conditions.
• Compliance with OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols.

Communication and Customer Service Skills

• Ability to explain complex issues to clients in simple terms.
• Fluent in speaking, reading, and understanding English.
• Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication for documentation and reporting.

Additional Requirements

• Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
• Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with service management software or mobile apps for scheduling and reporting.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Essential Functions

• Climbing ladders.
• Push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, and walk for long periods.
• See and hear well with or without correction to ensure safety.
• Availability for overtime and weekends, with regular attendance.
• Work in heat and various weather conditions.
• Travel to job sites within Florida.
