Summary

Technicians are provided with company vehicles (cars/vans) that they can take home daily, offering flexibility in their base location.

About the Role
The HVAC Technician is responsible for performing preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, as well as troubleshooting and servicing commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of HVAC controls, system operation, and sequences. This role requires strong organizational skills, accurate documentation practices, and effective communication with clients and internal teams.

A clean driving record is required, as the position involves travel throughout the service territory using a company-provided vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

• System Installation: Install HVAC equipment and replacement parts per manufacturer specifications, maintaining warranty validity.

• Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled system maintenance in line with company and industry standards.

• Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and repair HVACR malfunctions in compliance with EPA standards.

• Documentation & Reporting: Complete timesheets, expense reports, service documentation, and purchase logs accurately and on time.

• System Testing: Conduct performance tests and analyze data to ensure systems operate efficiently and recommend any needed improvements.

• Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all electrical/mechanical safety standards; participate in required safety meetings and training.

• Leadership & Teamwork: Lead on-site work when required and foster strong client relationships through professionalism and reliability.

• Vehicle & Tool Maintenance: Maintain tools and company vehicle in safe, working condition.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED required

• Completion of an HVAC Apprenticeship Program

Experience

• 5–10 years of hands-on experience servicing commercial or industrial HVAC systems

• Experience working in the Greater New Jersey area and neighboring regions

• Strong knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems, including blueprint and schematic reading

Skills

• Ability to understand and follow technical manuals and safety documentation

• Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration

• Proficiency in basic math and unit conversions

• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Licenses/Certifications

• EPA Universal Refrigeration License (required)

• Additional certifications/licenses may be required depending on service agreements

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required)
