Job summary

AIR Carolinas in Columbia, SC is seeking a Commercial HVAC Service Technician to install, service, and start up a wide range of HVAC systems, including VRF and rooftop units. You will diagnose complex issues and deliver high-quality service to our customers, becoming the go-to problem solver on-site.

Under the Service General Manager, you will perform preventative maintenance, optimize performance, document work, and mentor junior technicians.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years minimum commercial HVAC service experience with VRF, rooftop units, and packaged equipment.
• EPA Universal Certification required; OEM-specific training or certifications preferred.
• Skilled in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and interpreting service manuals and schematics.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with a professional, team-focused mindset.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; able to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in various field conditions, including rooftops and tight spaces.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service coverage.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve issues on a variety of commercial HVAC systems.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships by addressing service concerns and delivering high-quality communication.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure efficient scheduling and timely service reports and documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and ensure tools are in good condition.
• Stay up to date through ongoing technical training and mentor junior technicians as needed.
• Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Be part of the on-call rotation for emergency service coverage.
• Contribute to the team by handling other duties as assigned.
