Job summary

State Mechanical Services, powered by MechanAir, is seeking an experienced HVAC Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects across the Chicagoland market from award through closeout.

This role emphasizes margin protection, schedule discipline, and safety, backed by enterprise-level support. You will coordinate field supervision, subcontractors, and vendors using Procore, maintaining accurate cost-to-complete projections and rigorous documentation.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of commercial HVAC or mechanical construction project management experience.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and construction schedules.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, drawings, and contracts.
• Experience forecasting costs and protecting project margin.
• Proficiency in Procore or comparable PM systems.
• Ability to manage multiple HVAC construction projects simultaneously.
• Union mechanical construction experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage HVAC and mechanical construction projects from award through closeout.
• Protect gross margin through cost control and disciplined forecasting.
• Maintain accurate cost-to-complete projections.
• Enforce contractual scope and structured change management.
• Coordinate field supervision, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Lead owner/architect/contractor (OAC) meetings.
• Ensure documentation accuracy within Procore.
• Reinforce jobsite safety compliance.
