About This Role

As a Journeyman with Carrier, you will impact our customers by ensuring their comfort through your expertise in Commercial HVAC. You will work on installations, repairs, and maintenance projects, sometimes independently and sometimes as part of a team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about their trade and eager to advance their skills.

Carrier values our partnership with Union workers, offering payment for travel time and an on-call schedule that promotes work-life balance, with rotations every 7-8 weeks.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions and recommend solutions
• Perform scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling units
• Install, replace, or repair equipment, including calibrating controls and replacing parts
• Assemble and install metal ductwork
• Assist in planning and designing new HVAC installations
• Estimate required materials
• Repair and replace damaged parts and equipment
• Read blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams
• Interpret regulations such as City, State, and EPA standards
• Maintain effective relationships with customers
• Operate company vehicles and equipment safely
• Identify and mitigate safety hazards, collaborating with management
• Set up lifting equipment safely for heavy tasks
• Participate in safety training and maintain required licensing

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 5 years of practical HVAC experience
• Ability to pass a Building Trades Journeyman exam
• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, crawl, sit, and squat for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license and insurability
• Union membership or willingness to join

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of building automation controls
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with Salesforce and ServiceMax
• EPA Universal Certification (EPA 608)
• Experience with various HVAC systems including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, VRF systems
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software
• Knowledge of HVAC codes and regulations
• Strong electrical and controls system knowledge
