Job summary

gpac is recruiting an experienced Commercial General Construction Estimator for a Boston-area project portfolio. The role focuses on conceptual, budgetary, and hard bid estimates for commercial work, coordinating with subs and suppliers, and preparing competitive proposals.

Experience with building envelope projects is a plus, but not required. The team values strong collaboration with PMs and operations during preconstruction and handoff after award.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience with a General Contractor.
• Experience estimating multiple commercial trades and complete project scopes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs using estimating software (On-Screen Takeoff or similar).
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and pricing.
• Building envelope estimating experience is a significant advantage.
• Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate conceptual, budgetary, and hard bid estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs using estimating software and construction drawings.
• Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners.
• Analyze plans, specifications, and project documents to ensure complete project scope coverage.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
• Collaborate with project managers, operations, and leadership during preconstruction.
• Prepare bid packages, scopes of work, and proposal documents.
• Understand construction sequencing, scheduling, means, and methods.
• Assist with project handoff after successful award.

Salary: $125,000 - $150,000 per year + aggressive commissions/bonuses

We are seeking an experienced Commercial General Construction Estimator to join a well-established and growing commercial construction company. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who enjoys working on a diverse portfolio of commercial projects and wants to be part of a respected team with a strong reputation for quality and long-term client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have experience estimating commercial construction projects from concept through bid, coordinating with subcontractors, and preparing competitive, accurate proposals. Experience with building envelope projects (roofing, waterproofing, masonry restoration, façade restoration, etc.) is a strong plus but is not required.

Commercial General Construction Estimator Responsibilities
