Job summary

Naval Station Great Lakes is seeking an Appliance Mechanic to install, service, and repair commercial food service equipment such as stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and related appliances on site in Great Lakes, IL. The role requires following wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications while using hand tools and test equipment.

The position emphasizes preventive and corrective maintenance, safety inspections, and timely troubleshooting to ensure continuous operation of facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years appliance mechanic experience or accredited schooling.
• Valid driver's license and forklift license.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial food service equipment.
• Disassemble/reassemble equipment and inspect mechanical/electrical parts.
• Troubleshoot faults and follow wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications.
• Inspect timers, thermostats, switches, pumps, belts, and calibrate equipment.
• Provide user training on new and existing equipment.
• Replace worn or defective parts and assist with operations.
