Job summary

Rafferty Construction, Inc. is seeking a Commercial Estimator to assist the Lead Estimator. Join a growing national commercial contractor with focus on ground-up, tenant improvements and restaurant projects.

You will support bid development, plan reviews, and subcontractor coordination while developing the full estimating skill set to eventually handle complete bids. Starting compensation is hourly, with growth as you gain experience and contribute to proposals, bid packages, and project

Qualifications

• Blueprint reading is essential.
• Takeoff experience is a plus.
• Excel proficiency is required for bid spreadsheets.
• Strong documentation and organization skills are needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with plan review, customer communication, and bid preparation
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor bids from multiple trades
• Help build detailed estimates, proposals, scopes of work, and bid packages
• Support subcontractor negotiations, value engineering, and cost analysis
• Maintain bid files, subcontractor database, and project documentation
• Over time, independently run complete bids from customer introduction to contracts
• Filing for permits

We specialize in ground-up construction, interior tenant buildouts, and restaurant projects, serving clients across more than 25 markets nationwide.

Job Overview

We are a general contractor focused on commercial buildouts, remodels, and tenant improvements. We need a capable Commercial Estimator to join as assistant to the Lead estimator. The long-term goal is for this person to become fully competent in every aspect of the estimating role, so we have strong bench depth and capacity as the company handles more projects.

You will support current workload while developing the skills to independently handle full estimates, proposals, and related tasks.

Duties

• Assist with plan review, customer communication, and bid preparation
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor bids from multiple trades
• Help build detailed estimates, proposals, scopes of work, and bid packages
• Support subcontractor negotiations, value engineering, and cost analysis
• Maintain bid files, subcontractor database, and project documentation
• Over time, independently run complete bids from Customer introduction to contracts
• Filing for permits

Qualifications

• Local to Central Indiana
• Blueprint reading and understanding is a must.
• Takeoff experience is a plus.
• AutoCAD experience is a PLUS
• Solid Excel abilities (we rely heavily on spreadsheets for bids).
• Highly organized, detail-focused, and good at documentation.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to occasionally visit job sites.

Compensation

Compensation - Starting pay will be based on experience.
