Peterson Power Systems, Inc. is seeking a Commercial Engine Shop Technician Trainee in Eugene, OR.

This trainee will perform repairs and maintenance on marine, industrial, and EPG engines under supervision, with duties spanning inspections, prep work, field support, and dyno operation to support customer service objectives. In this role you will write service reports, prepare work orders and parts lists, and ensure documentation accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree from a fully accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or a closely related field.
• Minimum 1 year of directly related experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain all makes and models of marine, industrial, and EPG engines and related systems.
• Perform pre-delivery inspections of engine products.
• Prep/modify sold engine products before delivery to customer.
• Assist field technicians making repairs at customer locations when needed.
• Operate and maintain engine dyno.
• Provide back‑up to Electric Power Shop technicians as required.
• Write service reports that accurately document activities.
• Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards accurately and in a timely manner.
• Solicit information regarding generator system sales and service and pass that information to sales staff and engine PSSR in a timely manner.
• Perform work and conduct oneself in a manner consistent with company goals, mission statement, and core values.
• Perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
• Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work and preserve component failure information for accurate failure analysis.
• Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
• Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Summary

This position performs repairs and maintenance on engines and related systems under supervision from an experienced Technician.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
• Work in a manner consistent with Contamination Control Guidelines.
• Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
• Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
• Be on call to respond to customer service needs during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Under supervision of an experienced Technician, perform the following service operations:
• Repair and maintain all makes and models of marine, industrial, and EPG engines and related systems.
• Perform pre‑delivery inspections of engine products.
