Job summary

DC DMV, District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles, Driver Services Administration, seeks a Driver License Examiner (Commercial) to administer road tests and determine applicant competence for commercial and non-commercial licenses.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, basic vehicle control tests, and road tests for diverse applicants including elderly, handicapped, deaf, or non-English speakers, with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the line of progression.

Responsibilities

• Assess the mechanical and mental ability of the applicant during road tests.
• Examine identity documents relating to personal identification, license category eligibility, vehicle registration, inspection and insurance.
• Inspect the vehicle prior to testing to ensure it is safe for conducting the road test.
• Render final pass/fail decisions and indicate appropriate permit restrictions.
