Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Class A CDL driver to deliver products to customers in Jessup, MD. Routes are typically 4–10 stops with palletized loads.

The role requires operating EL D, unloading with lift gates, and adhering to DOT safety rules. Start times are early, with home daily and a 10-hour daily shift expectation.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license with clean driving record.
• Minimum 1 year of tractor-trailer experience.
• Current medical certification.
• English fluency in speaking and writing.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate tractor and trailer to deliver products.
• Perform vehicle inspections as required.
• Use ELD and delivery apps on mobile devices.
• Unload pallets with a lift gate and pallet jack.
• Ensure orders are delivered complete and in good condition.
• Communicate with operations about customer concerns.
• Follow DOT/OSHA safety rules and company policies.

Job description

The Opportunity:

The Class A Commercial Driver position involves driving a company tractor and trailer to deliver products to our customers. Driver routes will typically be 4-10 stops per route, will require the driver to unload via lift gate with pallet jack, and transport/place palletized products inside the customers' location. Drivers will be expected to use ELD and log all activity and follow all state and federal regulations. Routes are generally <150 miles round trip but could be longer including interstate depending on DC location.

Shift:

Mon-Fri, 5am -7am start time with avg 10-hr days, home every night

Pay Rate:

$29-$30/hr

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock

• Safely operates tractor and trailer for the delivery of products and materials.
• Perform vehicle inspections as required.
• Operate mobile apps on the phone for ELD and proof of delivery.
• Follow all safety rules for equipment and material handling as required by DOT, OSHA and Company safety program.
• Ensure all orders are delivered in good condition and in full as per the bill of lading.
• Communicate effectively with operations staff about customer concerns.
• Utilize material handling equipment, such hand trucks.

What you need to succeed:

• Current CDL Class A license
• No preventable motor vehicle violations within the last 12 months
• Current medical certification card.
• One or more years' experience driving a tractor trailer.
• General fluency in English required, verbal and written
• Basic computer literacy preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
