Job description

Position Overview:

Responsible for managing a designated Commercial loan portfolio, including portfolio management, credit underwriting, and ensuring compliance with bank and regulatory guidelines. Responsible for the quality of underwriting and ongoing portfolio management metrics for portfolio under purview. Assists Commercial Relationship Managers in managing client relationships while maintaining a high degree of creditability. Acts as a mentor to junior team members. Typically works on loans/portfolios of lower to medium complexity, requiring oversight and some independence.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Underwrite, monitor, and analyze assigned Commercial portfolio to ensure risks are identified timely, maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality in underwriting and portfolio management, aligned with the bank's risk appetite and regulatory standards.
2. Lead on complex transactions including syndications, multi-level capital structures, and Middle Market relationships, demonstrating excellent communication skills to articulate opinions clearly and make recommendations regarding credit structure, risk, risk ratings, and policy compliance.
3. Monitor and ensure the portfolio remains within acceptable tolerances and KPIs/KRIs.
4. Assist Relationship Managers in managing client relationships to optimize customer satisfaction and creditworthiness.
5. Ensure satisfactory reviews by regulators, auditors, and loan review teams, focusing on underwriting depth, policy compliance, and stress analysis.
6. Collaborate on group-wide initiatives to enhance processes, roles, responsibilities, and output. Mentor junior Underwriting Portfolio Managers.
7. Present credit proposals effectively in written and verbal formats during meetings and committees.
8. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:

BA or BS degree; minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Skills Required:

• Excellent project management, communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency in MS Word (Basic), MS Excel (Intermediate), MS PowerPoint (Basic).
• Knowledge of commercial lending, underwriting practices, banking policies, procedures, and regulations.
