A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

At Fiorilli Construction, the Construction Senior Estimator is vital in ensuring precise and competitive project bids. Each day starts with conducting estimating for bid assemblies, which includes detailed material and labor trade assessments as necessary. Collaborating closely with the Chief Director of Preconstruction, the Senior Estimator effectively communicates task statuses and outcomes to the estimating team and other project stakeholders.

Responsibilities include preparing and supporting pricing and bidding for construction projects, actively engaging Trade Partners and vendors to submit bids, and maintaining communication with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and clients. The Senior Estimator directs and coordinates the distribution of essential information and documents to subcontractors, prepares comprehensive bid reviews and analyses, and develops subcontractor scopes as required.

Critical tasks such as attending pre-bid and project walk-through meetings are integral to the Senior Estimator's role. They also contribute to developing client scopes of work and project schedules, assembling presentation documents, and assisting in the final compilation of bid proposals. Following the bid process, the Senior Estimator meticulously organizes all bid-related information for future reference, ensuring all documentation, including RFIs and communications with stakeholders, meets professional standards.

An essential aspect of the Senior Estimator's responsibilities is strengthening and expanding Fiorilli Construction's Trade Partner base. The Senior Estimator enhances relationships with subcontractors by actively participating in strategic presentations to secure new opportunities and diligently following up on all proposals and bids. This proactive approach ensures competitive bidding and fosters long-term partnerships critical to project success.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

• Preferred to have a minimum of 10 years experience working in a large-scale professional commercial construction environment
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving personality with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with vendors
• Experience with data entry, database management, and reporting and compliance
• Professional customer service skills
• Experience in EOS Worldwide is preferred
• Cutting-edge technical savvy skills are preferred
