Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary:

ROLE SUMMARY

The Estimator 2 will continue learning Welty processes and tools and developing professional skills while assisting with the preparation of more complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals. This position will experience many facets of the construction and estimating process in order to develop a greater understanding of the building process and how Welty executes projects. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of Welty.

Autonomy and Decision Making: Makes decisions on routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor and refers all exceptions to supervisor.

Career Path: Estimator 3.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

ESTIMATING FAMILY CORE

Performs quantity survey of materials shown on project plans.

Reads and outlines project specifications.

Maintains an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate.

Supports vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination.

Supports the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.

Works collaboratively and creates relationships with a variety of stakeholders, such as project team members, subcontractors, vendors and clients.

Gains self-perform estimating experience.

Gains field operational exposure through onsite project support, as opportunities exist.

ESTIMATOR 2

In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:

Proficiency in preparing a complete hard bid estimate.

Prepares components of more complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.

Prepares material costs summary for quotes from vendors.

Assists with tracking value creation items from development through and documents in project documentation.

Develops scopes of work for specific trades and receives and analyzes subcontractor/vendor pricing. Provides on-the-job guidance to coworkers and willingly shares subject matter expertise in order to support team member learning and development.

EDUCATION

Bachelors degree in construction management, engineering or related field ().

In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

EXPERIENCE

2+ years construction experience (Required).

CERTIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Successful completion of company training and role-specific professional development coursework, within required timeframe (Required).

Successful completion of OSHA 30 training, within required timeframe (Required).

Successful completion and maintenance of First Aid Certification, CPR (Required).

American Society of Professional Estimators ().

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Associate ().

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

May require periods of overnight travel.

Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project demands.

Normal office environment, but may also be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).

Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen.

Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Climbing.
